Hello, this is the first time I've ever tried to run a self-hosted server before. I have been playing Minecraft for many years (since 2012) but it was only recently that I've gotten a computer that might be strong enough to self-host a private server for just my friends and I. I wanted to know if my PC is powerful enough to self-host or if I should get a paid or free server host.
My PC specs:
GPU: RTX 4070
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 76000 6-Core
RAM: 32 GB DDR5
Motherboard (not sure if relevant...): ASRock B650M-C
I am using two SSDs. One is only 1TB, the other is 2TB and is where I store my steam games. I think Minecraft is install on my main SSD which is 1TB but is mostly full, so I can move the install if I need to.
I have fiber internet but I do not have the ability to use an Ethernet cable as I don't have control of the modem, though I can ask to access it if need be. My download speed is 172 mbps and my upload is 279 mbps. Speed test said my idle ping is 12, my download is 37, and my upload is 72. I'm not sure if that is relevant or not.
I would be playing with the modpack Reclamation. Since it bundles a bunch of mods, I am linking it for ease of access.
It would just be me and one friend (maybe a third or fourth, but most likely only two of us). We are not in the same state but are on the same side of the country.
