GUIDE MINECRAFT Check Mob and Entity Load on Paper

If your server has low TPS, mobs and other entities may be contributing to the problem.

Paper includes commands that let you inspect them without installing another plugin.

Start with:

/paper entity list *

This lists currently ticking entity types.

You can check a specific world by adding its name:

/paper entity list * world

If you want to check only a particular entity type, you can use its Minecraft identifier.

Example:

/paper entity list minecraft:villager world

This is useful for finding overloaded villager halls, mob farms or areas with large numbers of entities.

You can also check global mob caps:

/paper mobcaps

For another world:

/paper mobcaps world_nether

Paper also provides local mob cap information for individual players:

/paper playermobcaps PlayerName

Do not automatically delete mobs just because the entity count looks high.

First determine which entities are actually causing the problem and where they are located.

For example, 100 entities spread across an entire world may be less problematic than hundreds of villagers constantly ticking in a small area.

Combine these commands with /mspt or spark if you are investigating a real performance problem.
