Hello all! I am running a server and preloading chunks with Chunky. I am preloading a large area (20,000+) out because my players are constantly traveling long distances and either lagging or crashing the server by trying to generate too many chunks.
Because I am generating a lot of chunks, the preloading time is quite long. The computer I am running the server on has 64gb of ddr5, with 16 dedicated to the server. I was wondering if temporarily allocating say 48gb of ram to the server would increase the speed of Chunky preloading, or if that is more of a CPU bottleneck? I dont currently use the computer for anything else, so I could dedicate pretty much all of the ram if I ever felt like it. I know that more ram would increase the time between garbage collection, but increase the lag spike of each one so I dont know if it would make much of a difference.
If this has already been addressed somewhere, let me know! I couldn't find the answer to this anywhere, and it would be cool to know if there is any merit to temporarily increasing resources for big jobs.
