I've been an active Minecraft server "dev" since around 1.16, but after 1.20 came out (a little while after display entities were added), I pretty much stopped working on Minecraft servers altogether. Life changed, and I also stopped keeping up with the updates.
Lately I've been getting the urge to get back into server development, but I feel completely lost and like I've missed a ton of stuff.
For example, I've seen servers with custom menus that seem to be made in vanilla Minecraft, and I have no idea how those work. I also found an NPC that transferred me to another server network, which is completely new to me.
I'd really appreciate it someone could fill me in on the biggest or most game-changing additions to Minecraft server development since around 1.19/1.20.
I think this could also be useful for other people.
