I'm trying to allow players in my survival world the ability to switch gamemode so that we can use creative on a continent we found. I originally wanted to create a zone with command blocks to auto enable creative in the zone and auto enable survival when leaving the zone. since worldguard doesn't work with fabric I tried custom areas. but it doesn't work either with fabric 1.21.11. so I resorted to command blocks, but because we tried to make the area around the command blocks 1500 blocks radius they didn't work once we left simulation distance. so I tried to keep them running with force load on the blocks but they didn't work when players left simulation distance because of chunk ticking. Edit: I should add that when we placed the command blocks at spawn, if another player was in simulation distance it enforced the creative/survival range. But one of my players had the idea of spawning a ghost player to keep the command blocks running with carpetmod. We didn't try that, it seemed like a lot of jank to get it to work.
Im still new to Minecraft and server hosting, so it felt like there wouldn't be a clean solution. it's just a server with me and my friends. so I ended up deciding we could all be trusted with game mode switching. I tried to give all players gamemode switching via luckperms, but apparently fabric doesn't support vanilla command nodes? or something like that. so it sounded like a I needed to download a bridge mod to allow luck perms to control permissions. but I couldn't find a bridge mod that works for fabric 1.21.11. I tried helpfulcommands but it didn't seem to work when I assigned us the correct permissions in crafty controller console. at this point we are all op now lol. but I'm not in love with having everyone be op. it seems like too much power for us when we don't really know what we are doing lol. but I do trust everyone with an honor system at least for now. anyone have any ideas on finding a perfect solution here? or should I just leave it alone and keep everyone with op?
