I know this question has been asked so many times so I apologise for asking it again.
I still haven't come to a full conclusion as to what my budget will end up being, but it will certainly be under £1000. This might be a bit hopeful but I think a budget of £500 - £700 is doable as I don't even really need a GPU. I'm also fine using 2nd hand parts so that budget can go even lower if I get lucky.
I'd ideally like to run two different Minecraft servers, one for me and my friends, and another for my sibling and his friends (possibly two modded servers as well if we ever go down that route).
I can't exactly remember, but I think Minecraft is mainly a single threaded game and the servers often only use a single core? Correct me if I'm wrong though. I don't need anything crazy and high end just something will that will get the job done and do that job well without any hiccups. I was thinking an Intel 10th gen CPU, like an I5 but would that be overkill or would I need to bump that up to something like a 12th gen? I'm also open to Ryzen options but I know Intel still has a lead when it comes to games like Minecraft.
I've seen people suggest that ECC ram would be nice to have, but considering the current ram crisis how much more worth it would be over just regular non-ECC ram? Granted I don't actually know what ECC ram is beside it being used for like work station pcs and massive data centres.
