Saving chunk regions then re-genning, best way to blend the old + new regions?

Been having trouble lately. We saved some regions and changed the datapack for land generation and obviously, when the regions generated around the saved ones, it left us with what is essentially huge corners cut out of things, and large flat cliff faces.

Where the two regions meet there's basically a mix of island and ocean, but both don't match the other, so under water there's just a massive stone wall where the new region wants the ocean floor (of that biome)

Using FAWE has proven... Annoying. The smoothen brush doesn't seem to actually smooth it properly, erode also didn't work properly, and I am not really sure what the best way is to just simply settle the terrain to look more natural. Another annoying part is that some of it also includes islands, so there are mountains that were cut in half and the exposed half is basically just a cross section of the mountain.

I was originally using a cliff brush to try and raise terrain then smooth it and just have a weird wall, but the cliff option decided to start using bedrock. Still figuring FAWE out, so..

But yeah, what's the best way to basically blend regions together? Mind you, no way to actually use MCA Selector or anything otherwise I'd just force blend the regions.
