Hello everyone, after a lot of thinking and searching for a computer, ive settled for a small HP Elite with the following specs:
i5-14500T CPU
8GB SODIMM DDR5 RAM (will upgrade, read below)
512GB Nvme SSD
Probably installing Ubuntu Server or Debian, js a headless linux install
I am planning to host a modpack with my friends on this server. It is a vanilla+ modpack (Neoforge) with create along with 17 create addons and vanilla+ mods, BetterX, farmer's delight, optimization mods and some datapacks for a total of 200 mods. I do not know how to make a modlist but if there is any way to make one please lmk !
At this time we will be around 5-7 people on at max, most likely expanding to around 10 at max in the future. I'm wondering if this will be able to handle this with relatively spread out players. For create we are all new to the mod so the contraptions will not be too complex, and will also be monitored and limited. !
Now I was also thinking of hosting a second server simultaneously if the resources are enough. In that case the server will be on PurpurMC, with around 30 plugins (tpa, homes, DiscordSRV, bluemap, geysermc, griefprevention etc) and the same player counts, so I will allocate around 6-8gb of ram to it.
Also, I will obviously be upgrading the RAM. Due to the possible dual server hosting, I was wondering if 16 gb or 24gb would be a smarter choice in this case. 32GB is out of my budget right now, so that is not an option for me.
Will this configuration be able to support our load ? We will be pregenerating the worlds using chunky. If hosting two servers is not enough then that is fine, as long as we can comfortably have the modded server running.
Thank you !
