Three things landed together. Two builders that let you style how your name appears across the whole board, and Vault Chat, our own messenger built into the site. Nothing here needs an application or a staff approval, it is all self serve.
NAME ICON BUILDER
The crown next to Vault+ Full names, and the shield on staff names, are no longer fixed. You choose how yours looks.
USERNAME STYLE BUILDER
The same idea, applied to the name itself rather than the icon beside it.
VAULT CHAT
A proper messenger, at /vault-chat/ or from the button in the corner of any page. It runs on a live connection, so messages arrive as they are sent rather than when the page reloads.

NAME ICON BUILDER
The crown next to Vault+ Full names, and the shield on staff names, are no longer fixed. You choose how yours looks.
- Pick a colour, or a gradient. Solid is one colour, gradient blends two at an angle you set.
- Add a glow. Strength and colour are separate, so you can have a green icon throwing a red glow if that is your thing.
- Put it in motion. Pulse, float, spin and a few others, with the speed under your control. Leave it still if you would rather it stayed quiet.
- Eight presets to start from. Vault, Ember, Ice, Gold, Void, Blood, Toxic and Chrome. Load one and tweak from there.
- The preview is live. It shows your actual name with your actual icon, updating as you drag the sliders. What you see is what everyone else will see.
- Surprise Me rolls a random combination if you want a starting point, and Reset puts everything back.
USERNAME STYLE BUILDER
The same idea, applied to the name itself rather than the icon beside it.
- Colour or gradient, with the same angle control.
- Motion effects, including a glitch that suits this place rather well.
- Font weight, if you want your name to carry more or less presence.
- It applies everywhere. Threads, posts, member lists, alerts, the online list. Not just your profile.
VAULT CHAT
A proper messenger, at /vault-chat/ or from the button in the corner of any page. It runs on a live connection, so messages arrive as they are sent rather than when the page reloads.
- Direct messages and group chats. Groups take a name, an avatar, and roles for who can manage them.
- Friends, with requests. Send one, accept or decline, and you get a forum alert either way.
- You can see who is around. Online, away and offline, an Active Now strip, and last seen for people who are not.
- Delivered and Seen on your own messages, so you know where they stand.
- Replies, reactions, editing, pinned messages and a search inside any conversation.
- Per conversation controls. Pin it to the top, favourite it, mute it, archive it, or clear your own view of it without touching anyone else's.
- Your name styles show up in chat too, so whatever you built above follows you in there.
YOUR PRIVACY, YOUR CALL
- Hide your presence so nobody sees whether you are online.
- Hide your last seen separately, if you want presence but not history.
- Turn off read receipts, and others stop seeing when you have read them.
- Invisible mode overrides everything and shows you as offline to everyone.
- Block anyone, and manage the list from Blocked members in the chat menu. Blocking also cancels a pending friend request from that person.
- Sounds and desktop notifications are both optional.
WORTH KNOWING
- The builders are tied to what you have. The crown is a Vault+ Full icon and the shield is staff, so the icon builder opens for whichever of those applies to you.
- On mobile, tap a message to bring up Reply, React and the rest. They stay out of the way until you ask for them.
- File attachments are off in Vault Chat. It is for messages, deliberately.
- Nothing you set here is permanent. Every option can be changed or reset whenever you like.
